Vinyl flooring
Vinyl flooring fitted in Shropshire
Sheet vinyl for kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms
Vinyl flooring remains the most practical covering for any room that meets water. It is fully waterproof, warm underfoot, quiet, and it wipes clean in seconds — which is why we fit so much of it in Shropshire kitchens, bathrooms, cloakrooms, utility rooms and porches. Modern cushioned vinyl also comes in convincing wood, tile and stone prints, so practicality no longer means compromising on looks.
The finish depends almost entirely on the floor underneath. We latex-screed hollows, prime dusty concrete and overlay springy timber boards with plywood so that the vinyl sits dead flat and no joint or board line telegraphs through the surface a few months later.
Fitted around units, pipework and thresholds
Sheet vinyl is a template job. We scribe around kitchen units, kickboards, pipe centres, WC pans and door frames so the covering runs under and up to them cleanly instead of leaving gaps hidden behind silicone or trim. Where a room is wider than the roll, seams are set out in the least visible line and welded or sealed as needed.
For wet rooms, commercial washrooms and anywhere a specification calls for it, we can fit slip-resistant vinyl with hot-welded seams and coved skirtings — see our safety flooring page for that side of the work.

Vinyl questions we are asked
- Is vinyl flooring suitable for a bathroom?
- Yes — sheet vinyl is fully waterproof and is one of the best coverings for bathrooms and wet rooms, especially in a slip-resistant grade. Seams can be sealed or hot-welded and edges coved so water cannot get underneath.
- Can vinyl be laid over existing floor tiles?
- It can, provided the tiles are sound and the grout lines are filled and smoothed first. We normally skim the floor with a latex smoothing compound so no grout joint shows through the new vinyl.
- How long before we can use the room?
- Most vinyl floors can be walked on the same day. Where adhesive or a latex screed has been used we will tell you how long to keep furniture and appliances off it, usually overnight.
